Music theory
Music theory involvesthe study of harmony and melody, metre and rhythm.
Theoretical knowledge is practically applied and practised in the training of aural skills and through vocal accompaniment.
This includes an understanding of the possibilities of a notation and finding a lively sound experience in it, rhythmic-metric exercises and playing with intervals, triads and other chords in the harmonic systems.
With this foundation it is also easier to comprehend the composition of particular works while listening to them, and pupils are better able to access contemporary music and find opportunities for composing and improvising.
